Commentary
1 and 2 Thessalonians [A Commentary]
Overview: The New Testament contains two documents which purport to be letters from one group of people (Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy) to another group of people described as the church of the Thessalonians. "In order to understand these documents as fully possible," writes the author in his introduction, "we need to know something about the partners in this literary character of the documents." In this commentary, the author provides such necessary background information and makes a fresh attempt to solve some of the continuing problems of exegesis raised by these letters. Building on the foundation laid by other scholars, the author reveals the abiding message and significance of these writings and shows how they are to be understood as Christian Scriptures.
