Face to face with Cancer : Comfort and practical advice for sufferers and carers : signs and causes, testing and diagnosis, treatments, hard questions, fear and anxiety, help and healing
Outline: There are currently more than one million cancer sufferers in the UK. Around 260,000 new cases of cancer are registered each year. Four in ten people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. In this book, Marion Stroud draws on personal experience and the experiences of many others to answer the questions that everyone wants to ask when cancer touches them. She takes the reader through the tests, diagnoses and treatments, explains the medical hierarchy and looks at the various options for those who are living with cancer. She considers diet, exercise and relaxation, and lists agencies that can provide help and support. She also explores the emotional impact for fear, anxiety and anger. She helps readers to understand themselves, talk honestly and openly and live life to the full, sharing her own discovery that hope and faith can survive the cancer diagnosis. Marion Stroud trained as a physiotherapist and has written and edited numerous books. She and husband and family live in Bedford. She is involved in counselling and speaking to women's groups.
