His Good Time, In : The story of the church in Singapore 1819-1992
Outline: Four months after Raffles landed in Singapore, he granted a piece of land of London Missionary Society to commence activity. Five months later, the first missionary arrived. Since then, the church has grown at a rather uneven pace, depending upon various sociopolitical events as well as the spiritual calibre of her leaders. This book not only seeks to chronicle the major events that book place but it also aims to provide an understanding as to why these occurred and how they affected the life of the church. Themes like reasons for the failure of early missionaries, contribution of mission schools, church's response to social needs, legacy of John Sung's ministry, effects of the Pacific War, rise of parachurch organizations, spiritual renewal and the changed mood of the 80's, are discussed frankly. The author believes that behind the movements of men and nations is the unerring hand of God. In His Good Time attempts to show how this has been so.
