Outline: Malaya's multiracial society is a happy mixture of Aboriginal, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian, European and other races. In spite of each communal group having its won distinct cultural, religious, economic and political background, these differences have not affected the harmonious co-existence of the various races. They have for for the past two centuries tacitly tolerated one another's particular beliefs and customs, and recently a growing consciousness of the emergence of a Malayan nation has further unified the understanding of its several communal cultures. Although a wealth of specialized literature exists for the expert, there is very little dealing with the way of life of the various communities of Malaya as a whole. The title - Peoples of Malaya - is appropriately chosen and the book should prove of great interest to the general reader who wishes to learn about the many and varied facets of life of the Peoples of Malaya.
