Outline : THE NIV COMPLETE CONCORDANCE
The NIV Complete Concordance is the first concordance produced for the New International Version of the Bible. A Bible concordance is a word index arranged alphabetically, to which are added a brief context and the location for every appearance of the key entry word. With a concordance one can find forgotten references of verses; locate specific persons, events, sayings, and teachings in Scripture; and compare Scripture passages, thus allowing the Bible to interpret itself.
The word "complete" in the title means that in this concordance every biblical reference to a particular word is included under the key entry word. There are approximately 250,000 references listed in The NIV Complete Concordance covering every major word (and many minor words) of the NIV text. Over 12,800 words from the NIV text are indexed. Word entries are cross-referenced to spelling variations and variant forms. For example, in parentheses following the entry "able" are the words "ability, able-bodied, enable, enabled, enables, and enabling" to advise one to check these entries as well if one cannot find the references one is looking for.
Each word is also listed under the exact NIV spelling; so it is not necessary to think of the word's dictionary form, For example, the words "mocker" and "mocks" are listed separately rather than under their root word "mock."
Another feature of this concordance is the con- texts in which the key words are situated-they are longer and more appropriate than those in other English concordances. In the reference phrase, the first letter of the entry word is given (in italics), but no other word in the phrase is abbreviated
