A Comparative Political Economy of Industrial Capitalism
This study of comparative industrial capitalism analyses the role of the state in Anglo-American, German and Japanese economies. In focusing on these industrialized economies, I examine underlying commonalities and differences between them. Most studies appear to have categorized industrial economies into capitalist market economies as opposed to centrally planned economies. In making such comparisons, such studies assume considerable convergence within the industrialized capitalist economies. As an interdisciplinary study that attempts to understand the role of the state in industrialized economies, this study is firmly based in the emerging field of comparative political economy and offers a different perspective from the government and business studies emanating from business schools.
