Systematic Theology : Volume 2 : The Works of God
Outline: The two volumes of Robert Jenson's Systematic Theology present a compendious statement of Christian theology in the tradition of the medieval summa. In the first volume, The Triune God, Jenson addresses the questions surrounding the nature of the Christian God, including classic christological as well as Trinitarian questions. Here, in The Works of God, Jenson examines such topics as the nature and role of the Church, and God's works of creation. Jenson understands theology as the Christian church's continuing discussion - or indeed argument - about her specific communal purpose; it is hermeneutic and critical reflection internal to the church's defining task of speaking the gospel, whether to the world as message or to God in petition and praise. The two volumes are thus dedicated to the service of the one church of the creeds; they are intended for no one denomination or confession.
