ZECOT : Hosea : God's Reconciliation with His Estranged Household
Outline : More than any other Old Testament prophet, Hosea speaks YHWH's covenant with his people as a family affair rather than a legal proceeding. The prophet's life mirrors the agony of his God who takes the initiative for reconciliation with an estranged household. Hosea's personal experiences become living proof of YHWH's commitment to his people as well as the rest of creation. In the process, the book that bears this prophet's name testifies to how the dealings of YHWH with the tiny kingdoms of Samaria and Judah are nothing less than the fulcrum of history.
