Systematic Theology : Abridged Edition
Outline : Charles Hodge (1797 - 1878) has been called by John Oliver Nelson "the Nestor of nineteenth-century religious life in America." Hodge's Systematic Theology, published in 1872 - 1873, was used as a primary textbook in many conservative seminaries, and has been in print since that time. But a work of more than 2,000 pages puts off many people who could still profit from this classic work. In an abridged edition published in 1988, the edition excised lengthy, esoteric passages and reduced the volume to one-third of its original size. This paperback edition adds incisive study questions to help laypeople work through the Systematic Theology. Hodge personally trained more than 2,000 students during his long tenure at Princeton Theological Seminary. His Systematic Theology has contributed to the training of many thousands more. This paperback edition will continue to serve students of theology and interested lay-people for many more decades.
