Theology of the Family, A : Five Centuries of Biblical Wisdom for Family Life
Outline : This book presents a perspective on the family largely forgotten by the modern church. There are fifty-six authors featured in this volume. Each of them gives a powerful testimony that the twenty-first century church needs to be reminded of what she used to believe about family life. These authors bring a measure of the correction and the balm necessary to heal our amnesia and return us to biblical order. The mission of the publisher of this book, the NCFIC, is to "proclaim the sufficiency of Scripture for church and family life." It believes that these two institutions - church and family - are critical to the proclamation of the Gospel, the declaration of the glory of God, and the demonstration of the love of Christ from one generation to the next. In its effort to proclaim the sufficiency of Scripture, it provides resources, conferences, and ways to connect people who desire to learn what the Bible says about Church and family. We the editors believe that the biblical resolution to this problem is repentance, faith in Christ, and reformation. We must confess our failures, and reject the unbiblical traditions of men that make the Word of God of no effect. Our fervent prayer is that God will raise up churches and families where the Holy Scriptures are honored as the only rule for doctrine and practice, so that they might serve and strengthen one another for the salvation of the lost, and for the glory of our sovereign Triune God.
